What it does
Code knowledge graph bridge for codebase-memory-mcp: semantic symbol search (BM25), source snippets, architecture overview with Leiden communities, call/data-flow/cross-service traces, graph-augmented grep.
Best for
- Developers exploring large repositories already indexed by codebase-memory-mcp.
- Architecture analysis that needs package, service, dependency, route, or Leiden community views.
- Investigations combining symbol search and source snippets with call, data-flow, or cross-service traces.
- Code searches that benefit from graph context in addition to text or regular expressions.
Not ideal for
- Repositories that have not been indexed by codebase-memory-mcp.
- Environments without an accessible codebase-memory-mcp executable; the default path targets a Windows `.exe`.
- Small or familiar repositories where ordinary source navigation and grep already answer the question.
- Calls that cannot supply or resolve a project through `project`, a Windows `repo` path, or `CBM_DEFAULT_PROJECT`.
README
dsh-codebase-memory
dsh-codebase-memory is a dsh bridge to codebase-memory-mcp. It exposes tools for exploring indexed repositories through a code knowledge graph and communicates with a persistent MCP child process over newline-delimited JSON-RPC.
Tools
-
cbm_projects: List indexed projects, including their Git status and graph size information. -
cbm_search: Search functions, classes, routes, variables, and other symbols using BM25-ranked semantic graph search. -
cbm_snippet: Retrieve source for a qualified symbol, optionally including neighboring symbols. -
cbm_arch: Inspect packages, services, dependencies, routes, languages, and Leiden community groupings. Results can be limited by a path prefix or requested architecture aspects. -
cbm_trace: Trace inbound or outbound calls, data flow, or cross-service HTTP paths at a configurable depth. -
cbm_search_code: Run graph-augmented text or regular-expression search, with optional file globs and path filtering.
Most repository-specific tools require a project name. A project can be supplied directly with project, derived from a Windows repository path passed as repo, or read from CBM_DEFAULT_PROJECT.
A typical symbol lookup uses cbm_search first and passes its returned qualified_name to cbm_snippet.
Runtime Configuration
The plugin starts codebase-memory-mcp.exe lazily and keeps the process available for concurrent requests. It reconnects on a later call after the child process exits.
Set CBM_EXE to override the executable path. Without that variable, the plugin uses:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Programs\codebase-memory-mcp\codebase-memory-mcp.exe
Set CBM_DEFAULT_PROJECT to provide a default indexed project when neither project nor repo is supplied.
The dsh bundle registers @jhp830901/dsh-codebase-memory with the ID dsh-codebase-memory.
Frequently Asked QuestionsFAQ
Use the verified command dsh plugin --profile default add github:jiayan-xu/dsh-codebase-memory in a DSH-enabled shell. The command resolves the public package metadata and keeps the plugin attached to the catalog identity shown on this page.
Compatibility follows the bundle and profile status shown above. If a profile is not detected, keep the plugin disabled there and check the repository documentation before enabling it in production.
The GitHub link and activity metadata are the source of truth for releases and maintenance. Revisit this page after a new release to confirm the catalog has observed the latest version.
